WATCH: ‘What Did You Eat Yesterday? Season 2’ Releases Official Trailer; Opening & Ending Song Unveiled

The heartwarming daily life of Shiro and Kenji will return soon!

What Did You Eat Yesterday?’ is a slice-of-life Japanese drama adapted from a manga series of the same name. It revolves around the life and relationship of Shiro Kakei and Kenji Yabuki, a middle-aged gay couple residing in Tokyo, Japan. Starring Hidetoshi Nishijima and Seiyo Uchino in the roles of Shiro and Kenji, the teaser for the second season will feature their daily life and usual routine once more.

“カラタチの夢” (Karatachi’s Dream) by Ohashi Trio has been made the opening theme song, capturing the joy and warmth that can be shared while gathered around the dining table. Meanwhile, the ending theme song “幸せのまわり道” (Detour of Happiness) by Bialystocks highlights the preciousness of the everyday moments portrayed in the drama. Both songs were newly written for the second season of the series.

Shiro Kakei’s regular routine is that after work, he buys groceries at a mart which has discounted prices. Afterwards, he goes home and makes dinner which usually includes rice, soup, and three side dishes. He has a monthly budget of 25,000 yen ($225) for food that he does not go over but he is nearing his limit and begins to think about raising the price of his budget. Furthermore, changes gradually occur in their respective workplaces and in the lives of the two men.

The first season of ‘What Did You Eat Yesterday?’ is available to stream on GagaOOLala worldwide except in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, and Thailand.
