The day after Amane’s confession, Ryuji felt very confused about the situation. He remains in deep thought even on the way to school, thinking about how this will change his relationship with Amane. He also thought about how he just received a confession from a friend and this was the main reason why he was confused about his feelings. Ryuji, the absolutely kindhearted person that he is, does not even think about how they are the same sex. He was just confused, as young people who received confessions feel.
Just as he is completely lost in his thoughts, he runs into Amane at the train station on the way to school. It was indeed fate because they had never run into each other the whole time they went to school. Ryuji thinks about how they usually speak to each other, so he starts his conversation with Amane to talk about what happened yesterday. They were interrupted by the train announcement, and Amane decided to pretend that nothing happened yesterday by going on their conversation as usual. But this did not bode well with Ryuji, so he asked Amane to follow him out of the station to talk.
They went over to a temple and Ryuji told Amane about his feelings. He confessed that he was still confused especially because he had never received a confession from a friend before. Amane apologized, but Ryuji said that there is no need to because it’s better to say your feelings than keep them inside. Through it all, Ryuji realizes that he never really got to ask Amane what he wants to get from the confession, and that he really wants to know everything that Amane is thinking. Amane confesses that when he first saw Ryuji, he found him physically attractive and was thinking about sleeping with him once, but then as they became close, he began having real feelings towards him. He said that now, he really doesn’t mind if they’re to remain as friends. But he quickly retracted that and said that he wanted to date Ryuji, and he didn’t think he could be a friend to him the same as before. Ryuji thanked him for his honesty and thought that he probably couldn’t say just how confused he was to him, however, he said that he still had no thoughts of dating at all. Just as Amane was about to feel rejected, Ryuji said, in the kindest way possible, that he wished Amane could keep liking him for now until he sorted his feelings out. Amane, with his heart-filled eyes, felt incredibly touched by how Ryuji handled his confession. He thought about how fortunate it was that he liked a person like Ryuji.
