TV Tokyo Launches New BL Short Drama Series ‘Hitochigai Kara Hajimaru Koi Mo Aru’; Now Streaming

The project collaboration announced that they would be creating three short dramas, with their first one being a BL.

TV Tokyo is set to produce three original short dramas in 2024, each with episodes lasting just 3 minutes. These dramas will be available on the short drama streaming app “BUMP,” operated by emole Inc. On “BUMP,” viewers can enjoy dramas for free by waiting, similar to manga apps, or they can watch them immediately by paying 97 yen per episode (including tax) or by viewing ads.

The first drama, titled “Hitochigai Kara Hajimaru Koi Mo Aru” (literally translated as “There’s Love That Begins With Mistaken Identity”), began streaming on Tuesday, August 20th, at noon. This Boys’ Love (BL) drama is TV Tokyo’s third BL production of 2024, following “At 25:00, in Akasaka” and “I Hear the Sunspot,” both of which are streaming on GagaOOLala.

The story follows Kai (played by Takuma Usa), a kind-hearted but clumsy man who struggles to get anything right. Burdened with debt, he is kicked out of his home one day. He receives a call from his twin brother Riku, who is abroad on a business trip. Riku offers him a deal: “You can stay at my place, and I’ll even pay off all your debts. But in return…”

When Kai enters his brother’s house, a mysterious man named Chiaki (played by Ryutaro Imai) suddenly barges in, hugs him, and kisses him. It turns out that Chiaki is Riku’s lover. Riku then asks Kai to pretend to be him and break up with Chiaki to pay off his debts. Thus begins a tumultuous mistaken identity room-share story.

This short drama consists of 29 episodes, with each episode running for one to three minutes. Takuma Usa, the lead actor, has also appeared in other BL dramas, such as “At 25:00, in Akasaka,” “Kiss x Kiss, Kiss: Secret Kiss and Fever Kiss,” and “I Hear the Sunspot.” You can watch the first three episodes on YouTube. The only question that remains is whether this short drama will be available internationally.

Stay tuned to BLtai for more updates!
