Ryo finally confessed his feelings… only to take it back and say “as friends”. But we can’t really blame the shy little gay boy who has a crush on his straight best friend. Let’s find out what happens in this episode of ‘My Strawberry Film’.
After confessing his feelings for Hikaru and saying he likes him as a friend, Hikaru pushed him jokingly, and then both went home.
Hikaru reminisces about when he first saw Ryo, saying that he has always been curious about him since he saw him. Their first meeting was a bit different from what Hikaru knows because Ryo made it happen when they talked. He intentionally bumped into Ryo’s desk and began talking to him because he found him fascinating. It was the beginning of their friendship where Hikaru would talk about whatever he liked with Ryo. Even more so, they began bonding over Ryo’s fondness for different sounds that he could create as his music. Hikaru found it “dazzling” that Ryo could create music, unlike him who easily gets bored. He found that he envied Hikaru’s passion most of all and that he wanted to find his own, but to no avail.
Hikaru, however, found that he can just be himself when he’s with Ryo. But once he found his “passion” in something – rather, someone – he felt captivated by it. However, he thought that even if things did not turn out the way he wanted, he knew that Ryo would always be by his side… at least he thought he would. But things became a bit awkward for Hikaru after Ryo’s “confession” at the swing. He decided he would ignore Ryo, with the guise of having a stomachache.
On the other hand, Minami approached a teacher named Takahashi and asked if he was a graduate of the school, which surprised the teacher for some reason. Was there something Minami is keeping?
After being ignored by his best friend, Ryo left the classroom to go to the rooftop. Chika, being the good friend she is, followed Ryo up to the rooftop to ask him what was wrong. Ryo said there was nothing wrong, but Chika saw right through him. She asked him if it was about Hikaru, and guessed if Hikaru confessed to Minami. Ryo quietly confirmed it, and when Chika asked if they were already dating, Ryo said they were not. The two, then, continued to sit in silence until Ryo started playing the music he played. While sitting together and listening to the music, Ryo asked Chika if they wanted to try dating. Chika was shocked. However, she said that although she felt happy that he said that, she knew that it was impossible. Chika cried, saying, it would be impossible for the two of them to date because she knows that he likes Hikaru. She, then, left him on the rooftop. After a while, Ryo went down and managed to come across Minami who asked where Chika was. Ryo silently said that he did something wrong, but when Minami asked what it was, Ryo just apologized and said that he did something wrong.
Minami ran to where Chika was and sat down quietly next to her. Chika thanked her (probably for staying with her), but Minami also thanked her because she had a fun time going around and figuring out what the old film was about. Then, Chika finally talked about what happened on the rooftop earlier and how Ryo asked if they could just start dating. She cried and said she wished she could turn back time to before they found the film. Minami felt sad, but Chika reassured her that she did not mean it to be about her, Minami stopped her and said she just felt lonely. Then, she walked away.
The group of four has walked away from each other.
