Naoya Shimizu, Bun Kimura Star in TV Tokyo x BUMP’s ‘Fictional’; Now Streaming

Following its first BL short ‘Some Love Begins With Mistaken Identity,’ TV Tokyo, in collaboration with short drama streaming app BUMP, has announced its new installment, ‘Fictional’.

Produced by TV Tokyo’s Tokio Omori, known for ‘Kono Tape (このテープもってないですか)’, ‘TXQ FICTION’, and ‘Yukuefumeiten’, ‘Fictional’ marks his project venture into romance drama. The series, consisting of 30 episodes, each just 1 to 3 minutes long, premiered on BUMP on September 20.

“Fictional” follows the story of Jinbo, a young man who unexpectedly reunites with a senior he once admired. As they begin living together, their relationship deepens, leading to unexpected twists. Naoya Shimizu, known for his roles in ‘The Boy with Dead Eyes’ and ‘Wakamusha’, stars as Jinbo, a character who is constantly at the mercy of his enigmatic senior. Bun Kimura, best known for his work in ‘Chimudondon’ and ‘Tokyo Vice’, plays the mysterious senior who harbors a hidden secret.

The series is written and directed by Zenzo Sakai, who has previously worked with Omori on TV Tokyo’s ‘SIX HACK’ and the A Masso live show ‘Absurd (滑稽)’. Commenting on the project, Sakai said, “This modern fairytale is something I want people who have loved, are in love, or are yet to experience love to see.” Omori added, “Love has the power to make people feel both positive and negative emotions.”

Fans can watch the series for free on BUMP after a waiting period, or enjoy it immediately for 97 yen per episode, with the option to watch advertisements for free access. Watch the short preview here:
