With the popularity of the first season of ‘My Beautiful Man’ comes its second season!
It’s definitely always a delight to see our favorite unlikely couple – Kiyoi and Hira – come together once again. Let’s dive into the first two episodes of their beautiful love story, which includes adult decisions and… some immature ones.

Episode 1 – A Continuation of Love
It starts with Hira and Kiyoi waking up in bed together, with Hira still in disbelief that he has a “god” for a partner. We get a glimpse of their domestic life as a young couple. Although in the previous season, Hira said he will quit the photography club, with Kiyoi’s support, he is still in the club. Now, Hira is in his senior year and is full of anxiety over the future, especially seeing his friends attend internships.
On the other hand, Kiyoi is getting rave reviews as a rookie actor under great management that houses Anna, a very popular actress. While talking with his colleagues, they mentioned a “Suspicious-kun”, Kiyoi’s tall male fan who wears sunglasses and follows them around in schedule. Suspicious-kun is, of course, Hira. Kiyoi’s colleagues spoke badly about Suspicious-kun and for a moment, Hira snapped at them until he excused himself to leave, shocked at his reaction.
At home, Hira cooks for Kiyoi and tells him that they are going out tomorrow. The next day, the two go out shopping for new clothes. Kiyoi lets Hira tries on different clothes and even styled his hair. While eating shaved dessert together, people kept looking at them because of how handsome both looked. But the reason why Kiyoi shopped for clothes for both of them was that they were attending a party. At the party, despite Hira’s initial hesitation, he still piqued the interest of other people at the party. Two women, in particular, asked him what he does and he mentioned that he likes taking photographs, but when they asked if he can take a photo of them, he declined and excused himself to the toilet. One of the women followed him to the toilet area and started hitting on him. Before things escalated, Kiyoi stepped in and told the woman that they are in the way. Hira thanked him for stepping in, but Kiyoi got angry.
When they went back home, Kiyoi was still angry and Hira kept apologizing to him. Hira kept mentioning different reasons why he was apologizing, but all of them just seemed to be wrong. Kiyoi asked him to raise his hands and touched his coat where the woman left her contact number on. Hira denied asking for anyone’s number, and in fact, he declined to take photos of the women because he only wanted to take photos of people he like – and it’s Kiyoi.
The scene ended beautifully with Kiyoi and Hira spending time together at home one morning. However, anxiety looms for Kiyoi…
Episode 2 – “Don’t Call My Man a ‘Pebble’!”
We get a glimpse of Kiyoi’s POV when they were spending time together at Hira’s home back when they were in high school. Kiyoi was getting impatient about when Hira will confess to him, because unbeknownst to Hira, Kiyoi already had feelings for him as well.
Back to the present, Hira mentioned that he’s going to an interview for a part-time job as practice when he looks for a real job since he still stutters, too. Koyama, the ever-supportive (bordering martyr) friend, tells him that he should join Noguchi Hiromi’s Young Photographica but Hira said he’ll think about it. Meanwhile, Kiyoi is filming a period film/series with his senior actor, Anna. Fans still gather around the filming place – which includes Suspicious-kun, Hira. There he meets Anna’s male fan who talks about how Anna inspired him to become better. Kiyoi said that he definitely relates to that feeling.
At the photoshoot location, Kiyoi talks to Anna about his career and love, on which Anna gives him advice. After a tiring day, Kiyoi goes home and sees that Hira has left him some food to eat and waited for him to get home too. But when Kiyoi was about to give a sleeping Hira a kiss, Hira woke up and apologizes profusely about sleeping before he even arrived. Their kiss got interrupted (AGAIN!) by Koyama’s phone call.
With Koyama entering the picture again, Kiyoi thinks about how he agreed to let his man still become close to Koyama, who previously liked Hira. Speaking of Koyama, he came to Kiyoi’s rehearsal place to pick up his older brother’s things. They had a talk about how Hira wanted to get a part-time job, and Koyama said some things that riled Kiyoi up, including his lack of cooking skills. Back at their home, Kiyoi started cooking for the first time! He puts too much sake (T/N: Japanese alcohol) in the meal he was cooking… which would prove to be a bad idea once they get to eat the meal. And true to this, the meal was inedible, but since Hira was amazed at Kiyoi’s newfound skill (or lack thereof), he kept taking photos of the meal and even eating it despite how seemingly awful it was. To get Hira to stop eating the meal, Hira ate everything – sake and all! So he became exceedingly drunk.
Hira kept saying how he was a pebble, on which Kiyoi stopped him and said “Don’t call my man a pebble!”. During his drunk bout, he told Hira to join Young Photographica and win first place so they can live in the same world together. Hira was touched… while Kiyoi passed out from too much alcohol.
Inspired by Kiyoi, Hira passed an entry to Young Photographica.
