Hio Miyazawa Won ‘Best Supporting Actor Award’ at the 16th Asian Film Awards

EGOIST star Hio Miyazawa won the best supporting actor award at the 16th Asian Film Awards held last March 12th.

The 16th Asian Film Awards was held on March 12, 2023, at Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium in Hong Kong Palace Museum. The nominations were announced on January 6, 2023. At the 16th edition of the awards ceremony, 30 films from 22 regions and countries were shortlisted for 81 nominations.

When Hio Miyazawa’s name was announced as the winner of the ‘Best Supporting Actor Award’, he hugged his co-star Kyohei Suzuki and the director, Daishi Matsunaga before heading to the stage to receive the award and giving a speech in English. During his speech, Kyohei could not stop his tears out of happiness.

Good evening everyone. It’s a great honor to be here and to receive this great award. I had a whole speech thought out but it’s all gone. It’s in my pocket but I’m not gonna bring it out. First of all, I can’t be happier to be standing in front of such great talent. And I would like to thank everyone who loves this movie have reached out to our beloved movie EGOIST. And I would like to thank our director, Daishi Matsunaga, and the lead role Kyohei Suzuki and to stand up, please. I believe this movie opens up doors to a lot of things. Not only to film but also to a new form of life and how it perceives and reaches out to people. I look forward to the day were everyone can live happily and in comfort. The movie has just begun to travel throughout the world. I believe the movie has the opportunity and the power to reach out to people, beyond our expectations. And I’m looking forward to coming back here again. Thank you very much.
