‘Tokyo In April Is…‘ is becoming more tense and intense! Here is a recap of its second episode.
In last week’s episode, we glimpse long-time school friends Kazuma and Ren and how they first met. In the next episode, however, will we get answers as to why they had to live separate lives? Episode 2: Is it really over?
After spending time together at the fireworks celebration, Kazuma and Ren treated each other as close friends again. In fact, they started having lunch together again. However, because Ren has become successful in his career, he’s swamped. Even so, he still made time to have lunch with Kazuma, which made him touched by this simple gesture.
While on his way home, Kazuma ran into his and Ren’s old classmate, Hide. They agreed to have dinner together and catch up. Hide mentioned that all the people in their class wondered why Kazuma and Ren suddenly went their separate ways and studied overseas in different countries that summer a decade ago. He said that they heard “weird rumors” but did not explicitly explain what those rumors were. Kazuma, seemingly lost in thoughts, said that Ren and him are both doing well and they were working in the same place. After catching up, Kazuma bid goodbye to his old friend promising to keep in touch. After leaving, however, Hide cried, saying he absolutely can’t say something to Kazuma.
The next day, Kazuma told Ren that he met Hide last night. Ren was surprised that they met and that they also talked about him. When Kazuma said that they should meet Hide together, Ren flatly said that he doesn’t want to meet Hide and that he shouldn’t either. Kazuma asked if they fought but Ren only said that he doesn’t want to see him and refused to say the real reason why.
Kazuma’s thoughts came back to that summer a decade ago. It was when he was hospitalized and was unconscious for a whole month, not knowing what truly happened. Despite being reunited with Ren, they never really talked about that incident. Kazuma once again remembered that time when they were young and Hide told Kazuma that he will be meeting with his girlfriend to have sex. Since the topic of dating came up, young Ren asked young Kazuma if he also wants to date a girlfriend. Kazuma hesitated but said yes and listed down activities that he will do with a hypothetical lover, which the two of them already do.
