It’s finally date day with Amane and Ryuji! Find out what happens in the last episode of ‘If It’s With You’.
Amane gets nervous upon Ryuji’s arrival, but mostly because he hasn’t seen him in a while and he realizes how much he missed him. He tells this to Ryuji who becomes shy after hearing this. The two go on their date and the first thing they do is — eat! The two playfully tease each other naturally and banter as usual. As they were teasing each other while eating food, some of their classmates saw them together. Their classmates then asked if they all wanted to watch the fireworks show together. Amane wanted to watch it together with Ryuji alone, but because he felt afraid that their classmates might think it would be “weird” to watch the fireworks show between two men, he was about to agree with their classmates. As they were about to leave together with Amane, however, Ryuji apologized to his classmates and frankly said he wanted to watch the fireworks show with Amane. Amane looked happy when Ryuji said this. Their classmates, then, left them alone. Amane stared at his classmates and was feeling elated.
As they were walking to the fireworks event place, somebody bumped into Amane, and Ryuji, in fear of that happening again, grabbed Amane’s hand. They walked together, holding each other’s hands. All the while, Amane was thinking about how people might look at them weird, holding hands and watching the fireworks together as men. Amane stopped walking and admitted to Ryuji that he almost became a liar when they were with their classmates earlier. He explains he was scared that two men watching together might seem weird to their classmates so he almost lied about wanting to go with them when he promised they would watch the fireworks together. But Ryuji reassured him that it was not that he lied intentionally, but that Amane answered out of habit. Ryuji explains, too, that he knows it would probably be better if they went with them, but he wants to be honest that he wants to watch the fireworks show together with Amane… and him only. Amane smiles and says he also wants to watch only with Ryuji.
The two finally settle on a secluded place beachfront. The fireworks start and the two enjoy the view. Ryuji says he usually watches the fireworks with his family, but it’s nice that he can watch it with Amane now. He also wishes that next year they will watch it together again. Amane smiled but asked Ryuji honestly if next year, he be feeling a one-sided love, still?
Ryuji paused and thought of what he had done during the summer break so far. Ryuji was indeed busy with their family restaurant, which is filling with customers this time of the year. But despite his busy schedule, he keeps thinking of Amane. “Amane will like this”, “I wish Amane was here”, and “I should ask Amane to eat together”. Ryuji even wanted to send a message to Amane asking him to meet, but in the end, he decided against it because he still didn’t know how to respond to Amane’s confession. Ryuji goes out of his room to find his mom praying at his dad’s memorial area. Ryuji asked his mom if she was lonely, and his mom answered that more than feeling lonely, she always thinks of his dad whenever she sees something beautiful or eats something delicious, much like how Ryuji has been thinking of Amane lately. Suddenly, Ryuji felt excited about seeing Amane again.
