What will happen in the friend group’s ‘double date”? Let’s find out in episode 5 of ‘My Strawberry Film’.
Chika was excited about the double date, especially because she was going on this date with her crush, Ryo. Through her excitement, she found herself getting late for their group date because she was busy preparing herself. Chika runs to the group and apologizes for being late, and as they are about to leave to go to a cafe together, Ryo accidentally trips and almost falls, but Hikaru manages to catch him in time (if only he would also really catch him for real!). Hikaru tells him to be careful with his steps especially as they are on a date with the girls. Ryo was taken aback. Chika looks at the scene in front of her suspiciously.
As soon as they arrive at their date place, the two boys go to a certain section to look at items, while Minami and Chika also go to a different section together. Minami realizes that the group hangout was actually a double date, especially because Chika looked like she prepared a lot for it. Minami said that she would help her, and proceeded to go to where the boys were and asked Hikaru to look at things together so Chika and Ryo could spend their time alone. Chika was looking at this beautiful necklace and Ryo mentioned that it looked pretty. Meanwhile, Minami was looking at the two of them and decided to order strawberry shortcake, but it turned out that they were not available, leading her to cancel the order. Ryo, instead of spending time with Chika, was still staring at Minami and Hikaru. Chika puts the necklace down and says she’ll end up not buying the necklace after all.
The four young students decidedly go to the sea, taking photos and videos of each other. However, Ryo stayed further away from the group, listening to music on his own. Chika noticed that Ryo looked quite down and was not with the group, so she went and decided to talk to him. Chika asked how Ryo felt, and he focused more on Hikaru than anything else, leading to another suspicious look from Chika. Ryo, then, asked Chika if she wanted to go someplace else, surprising her. But it was just so Ryo thinks they can leave Hikaru and Minami together. This disappointed Chika even more, but still, she followed him.
Hikaru finally realized that Ryo and Chika were nowhere to be found and he was alone with Minami. He finally mustered up the courage to ask Minami if she has a boyfriend, but Minami said it doesn’t matter what her relationship status is, and she does not feel the need to tell him that. Hikaru was about to argue about it, but Minami said that the important thing is that they are enjoying each other’s company.
