Before we dive into the second season of ‘My Beautiful Man’ starring the equally pretty Riku Hagiwara and Yusei Yagi, let’s backtrack a bit and remember what happened in the first season of the fan-favorite, ‘My Beautiful Man’.
Episode 1
Kazunari Hira’s life as a senior started differently – with him living alone while his parents move away. But he only wanted nothing but a peaceful year but clearly, it won’t be as easy. With Hira’s turn to introduce himself during the first day of class, his introverted self started stuttering. But life, as it turns out, wasn’t as bad as it seems because, at that moment, Kiyoi So entered the classroom… and his life.
It was as clear as day that Hira and Kiyoi are from different levels of popularity. Kiyoi being the most popular man in school is in a group that bullied Hira into doing different kinds of errands. Because Hira fell in love at first sight, he didn’t mind being ordered around by Kiyoi and his group. In fact, when Hira was about to be pushed around by another classmate, Kiyoi actually saved him… by ordering him to do an errand, especially for him.
One day, Hira saw Kiyoi by accident going to a dance studio because he said to his gang earlier that his cousin signed him up for a contest. Unshockingly, Hira was yet again enamored by Kiyoi’s new side. However, Kiyoi made Hira promise not to tell anybody that he is practicing dancing in a dance studio. It was in a moment of silence while sitting together that Hira took a picture of Kiyoi because, in his words, Kiyoi was ‘beautiful’.
Kiyoi told Hira not to take any more pictures of him (probably not going to happen). So the whipped Hira printed the photo he took of Kiyoi… and confessed to it how much he likes him.
Episode 2
It’s almost summer! As seniors, the pressure of high school graduation looms. With some of their classmates going to college, Kiyoi’s group of friends asks him what his plans after high school are, asking him if he intends to pursue being a celebrity. Kiyoi says ‘no way’ – but Hira knew he has been working hard to hone his dancing skills.
Since summer vacation finally arrived, Kiyoi’s group of friends were deciding where to spend time together. Kiyoi volunteered Hira’s house because he let it slip to Kiyoi that he lived alone. Although Kiyoi was looking forward to a peaceful summer, he was elated by the fact that he can still see and spend time with Kiyoi.
Hira was shocked that Kiyoi entered his room and touched his things. They talked about photography, with Kiyoi mentioning that he needed an official photo but that it was expensive to get taken. Hira wanted to offer his photography skills, but he remembered that Kiyoi told him not to take his photo again, so he swallowed his words.
Kiyoi’s group of friends decided to light fireworks together with some of their girl classmates. Because the girls kept being close to Kiyoi, Hira felt jealousy… but was not really sure it was that feeling. It was then that Hira was, once again, bullied to run tasks for the group. At first, they drew lots to decide who will go with Hira. Kiyoi was supposed to go with him, but the girls insisted that Kiyoi be left behind. Hira insisted that he can do it alone, but after a few minutes, Kiyoi goes up to accompany him while riding a bike. And because riding a bike is only supposed to be for one person, the police reported them to their school, which led them to be punished by cleaning after school hours.
It was when they were playing around that Hira told Kiyoi that he looks beautiful. Kiyoi asked him to not be too formal with him, and they continue to play around while having fun together. They dry themselves up at Hira’s house once again, and Kiyoi, once again, through another photo, Hira falls in love.
Poor Hira… he never had a chance not to fall for the beautiful Kiyoi!
