‘Drag Race UK’ The Vivienne Shares Heartfelt Message By Mother After Homophobic Attack

Following a vicious homophobic McDonald’s attack on her on Friday, Drag Race UK winner and All Stars 7 alum The Vivienne has shared on her Instagram a passionate message from her mother slamming the assault on her son.

The Welsh queen’s mother expressed her heartfelt sorrow for the terrible situation and that the attack on her son in Liverpool was not only shocking and disgraceful but extremely upsetting for her and her family.

“Those of you that have known James/Viv will be aware of the love, passion, and commitment to the Liverpool community that he has shared,” she said.

In the message, The Vivienne’s mother also mentioned the impact that the drag queen has made on the lives of the LGBTQIA+ community, especially in coming forward to identify as they choose and live a life where they are happy and fulfilled.

“As James/Viv’s mother I was relieved to hear this attack was dealt with appropriately by both the police and the employer. This should not and cannot be tolerated in contemporary society,” she continued.

According to the Merseyside Police, the attacker had been detained on suspicion of assault and was currently in custody.

It was reported that The Vivienne was in McDonald’s on Edge Lane in Old Swan at around 12:25 BST when an unknown man made homophobic comments towards her and then punched her in the face.

Investigation into the case is still ongoing.

The Vivienne tweeted:

Numerous Drag Race stars such as Baga Chipz, Michelle Visage, Jackie Cox, Kerri Colby, and Trinity the Tuck, among others, have expressed their support for The Vivienne, with Alexis Michelle saying “This is beautiful and you’re an incredible role model. Love you.”

The Vivienne won the first-ever Drag Race UK in 2019 and later joined the franchise’s first-ever all-winners edition in 2022.

Since then, The Vivienne has appeared on several reality projects like The Weakest Link, Celebrity Mastermind, and Dancing on Ice, where she placed third.
