Heads up! During the reunion held on April 14th, IdeaFirst Company revealed the highly anticipated sequel to ‘Gameboys’!

‘Gameboys’ is a Filipino BL (Boy’s Love) web series set during the COVID-19 pandemic, featuring a love story between two gamers, Cairo and Gavreel. The show is notable for its creative approach to filming during the pandemic, with most scenes shot online using smart phones. It was born out of the IdeaFirst production team’s determination to create something meaningful when the world seemed to be pausing due to the pandemic.

The drama was premiered in May 2020, with its first season consisting of 13 episodes on YouTube. The show’s success led to a second season, which premiered in May 2022, with a more romantic and intimate tone. Critics have praised the series for its unique storytelling, compelling characters, and the chemistry between its leads.

In addition to the series, a movie titled “Gameboys: The Movie” was released in 2022, and during the Gameboys’ cast reunion at the EnlighTEN Film Festival, actors Kokoy De Santos, Elijah Canlas, Andriana So, Miggy Jimenez, Kyle Velenino, and Kych Minemoto unite for the special screening of “Gameboys The Movie.” The event ended with surprises as “Gameboys NYC” was revealed.

The upcoming sequel promises to continue the love story of Cairo and Gavreel, with actors Elijah Canlas and Kokoy de Santos reprising their roles. This time, the story will take them from their original setting to the bustling streets of New York City and Bukidnon. The announcement of a New York City-set sequel has sent fans into a frenzy. Meanwhile, Ash Malanum, the screenwriter, shares a photo that the sequel has been in the works since 2021.
