Double Affairs (?) and Mysterious Secrets in ‘Ossans Love Returns’ EP3

After feeling elated over their decision as a couple to hold a wedding ceremony, Haruta skips outside to work—only to be met with deja vu! Why is Izumi lying bloodied on his neighbor’s pavement? Will we finally learn the secret of Haruta’s new neighbors? Let’s find out in episode 3 of ‘Ossan’s Love Returns‘.

Haruta was surprised when he saw Izumi, once again, on the pavement. He runs towards him and asks him what happened, shouting about how he will call for help immediately. But to his surprise, Izumi pulls him in for a kiss and tells him his lips are “as annoying and noisy as ever”. Haruta, absolutely shocked and mortified, screamed once again. His panic was cut short because the mysterious onigiri seller (who is also his neighbor) appeared once again. He carried Izumi again, told Haruta to forget about the incident, and left. Haruta was left on the pavement, shocked and reacting quite overtly. But it was not just them who were in the scene because Chief Kurosawa witnessed the whole thing!

The mysterious couple (?) however, after patching Izumi’s wound, are found in a cemetery. Onigiri seller man asked Izumi to move on, to which he replied that he was trying. But what was he supposed to move on from, really?

They were not the only ones thinking about the earlier incident, as Chief Kurosawa was also filled with “cheating” thoughts the whole time, even while he was doing his household work for the Maki-Haruta house. He hilariously tries to add some reminders of how cheating is bad and that their deeds will always be seen around the house… but he comically takes them down anyway.

The oblivious Maki, on the other hand, was eating his lunch peacefully when his ex (boyfriend and boss), Takegawa, came by and asked if he wanted to eat lunch together. Maki said he was already eating, but not able to dodge spending time with his ex, Takegawa asked him if he wanted a bottle of sake, and that he should come by his house in the evening. Maki, although surprised, agreed, but not until he made a phone call to Haruta to let him know that he would get a drink with Takegawa. At the other end of the line, Haruta was about to tell Maki about what happened earlier that day, but Maki already dropped the call.

Maki goes over to Takegawa’s house. And of course, by complete coincidence, Chief Kurosawa sees the two together and assumes that they are having an affair as well. The two exes talk about how Takegawa sounds sad, especially because of the posts he has been doing on his Twitter account. He tells Maki about his online dating activities (which was clearly a scam, even Haruta said that), but he still refuses to admit that it was a scam. Maki realizes that Takegawa looks sad, and it seems like he just wants someone to be with romantically.

Haruta was surprised that Maki was still not at home when he arrived but was more surprised that the onigiri seller neighbor, who introduced himself as Kiku, sneaked up on him to give him a gift as an apology for the incident earlier. Haruta accepted the gift, but he was astounded when he saw stacks of money hidden in the onigiri gift basket. He immediately rushes to Kiku and tells him to take back the “gift” and tells him regardless, he won’t talk about what he witnessed earlier anyway. Maki arrives home, with Takegawa taking him back. It made Haruta feel a little bit jealous, but he wasn’t able to tell that to Maki, especially while he was also hiding the secret of the kiss.

Haruta follows Izumi the next day, trying to seek answers about the kiss, and finds him at the archery dojo. Izumi was still not giving him any answers, but at least his archery stance looked good. Chief Kurosawa, on the other, hand, does not seem to think the same way. He called the archery stance a “back hug”, with Izumi teaching Haruta. He took photos and fell into the devastation that his son and son-in-law are most probably going to be “divorced”.

The next day, Haruta finds out exactly why Izumi kissed him. Chief Kurosawa was about to confront Haruta about his “cheating” but they heard a loud noise from next door, which turned out to be a fire alarm. Haruta was about to break in, but Chief Kurosawa still had the key to the house when he gave them a “free cleaning trial” earlier that day (fully expecting to do some investigation). It turns out that Izumi accidentally burned a pastry he was baking, and Chief Kurosawa went outside to turn off the alarm. But as everyone was in chaos because of the thick smoke inside the house, Haruta suddenly screamed the question of why Haruta kissed him. Izumi and Kiku tell him that it was all a misunderstanding. Izumi apologized and was even surprised because he could not remember that he kissed Haruta.

All seemed to be well until Maki returned home after spending more time with the sad Takegawa. Chief Kurosawa was meditating and decided against telling the two about what he found out. But Haruta was insisting Chief Kurosawa to tell them whatever he wanted to say, all of the photos he took and printed were sprawled on the floor. The couple were dumbfounded and finally, they talked about the things they were keeping from each other. The two agreed that all of the things they were keeping from each other seemed to be mere misunderstandings, and they promised to tell each other everything from now on so that they would not be left in the dark and in anxiety. Chief Kurosawa cried and asked them if they were really good with each other and would not be separating, and the couple felt touched that he would care that much about their relationship. They assured him that they were good and would not separate.

After Chief Kurosawa left, the two share a sweet moment together, literally, with them making cotton candy together. Maki was about to talk about the “kiss” that happened to Haruta, but instead, he just kissed his husband on his own. The two were in the midst of making out until someone came knocking on their door. It was actually Izumi and Kiku! They came over with another gift basket, this time with no hidden cash. Maki finally introduced himself to their mysterious neighbors, finally. As Haruta was getting the basket from Izumi, his necklace got caught in it, and as Haruta was about to pick up the necklace, he was surprised that it had his face on the locket!
