The upcoming Filipino film ‘Pagpag’ just released its teaser and a call for crowdfunding as it gears up to start its principal photography.

‘Pagpag’ follows the story of two male high school friends who visited the wake of their deceased friend. The two decide to do “pagpag” or make a detour before going home, forcing the old friends to reconnect once more after five years.

On May 13, Monday, the film’s official X account released a romantic teaser featuring its lead actors, Denbert Tiamson and Kcedrick Balagat with Filipino pop girl group Bini’s “Huwag Muna Tayong Umuwi” playing in the background.

Pagpag is a Filipino superstition that involves shaking off malevolent spirits or even death itself by going somewhere after attending a wake to stop them from following you home. The belief is that this will confuse any bad spirits that are trying to make their way home to haunt you.

Pagpag is written and directed by Jay-r Julio and is produced by Aiah Gertos and Jelsy Arcales. The film is co-presented by UP Film Institute, plustwo collabs, and UP Cinema.
