‘Warrior Nun’ Saved, Creator Confirms Return of Sapphic Series

Warrior Nun

The beloved occult sapphic series ‘Warrior Nun’ returns from the grave as creator Simon Barry confirms that the series has been saved!

On June 28, Barry announced on Twitter the good news. “Today, I’m happy to officially report that because of your combined voices, passion, and amazing efforts — Warrior Nun will return and is going to be more EPIC than you could imagine. More details to come! SOON! Thank you!”

‘Warrior Nun’ debuted on Netflix in July 2020 and received generally positive reviews. It was renewed for a second season which was released in November 2022. According to reports, the second season even recorded the highest audience ratings for a Netflix show ever

However, on December 13, 2022, the series was canceled, a decision that received major backlash. Over 120,000 fans petitioned for the return of the show (prior to Barry’s announcement), and the hashtag #SaveWarriorNun trended following the news with over five million tweets.

‘Warrior Nun’ joined the long list of queer shows Netflix canceled in recent years which include ‘1899’, ‘First Kill’, ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’, ‘Q-Force’, ‘GLOW’, and ‘The Get Down’, among many others.

‘Warrior Nun’ is based on the comic series by Ben Dunn titled ‘Warrior Nun Areala’ and follows the story of 19-year-old Ava Silva who wakes up in a morgue with a divine artifact in her back. She then learns that she has become part of an ancient order tasked to fight demons on Earth.

As of writing time, all that we know is that ‘Warrior Nun’ will return — whether on Netflix or on another platform, we do not know yet. As much as we want all the details, all we can do now is wait for what is to come for our favorite dark sapphic show.
