Trans Actress Abigail Thorn Reportedly Cast in Star Wars Series ‘The Acolyte’

Abigail Thorn

It’s another trans representation win for our screens as trans actress Abigail Thorn has reportedly been added to the cast of the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars show, ‘The Acolyte’!

If confirmed, Thorn would become Star Wars’ first-ever trans actress.

According to Disneydining.com, an unofficial Disney site reporting early news about everything Disney, the Star Wars franchise will feature its first trans actress in line with Disney’s commitment to inclusion. She will allegedly play the role of Ensign Eurus.

As of writing time, however, there is no confirmation from Disney or Thorn herself.

Thorn is best known for her YouTube channel Philosophy Tube which she began in 2013. She publicly came out as a transgender woman in January 2021.

‘The Acolyte’ is a mystery-thriller series set at the end of the High Republic era before the events of the main Star Wars films. It will tell the secrets and dark-side powers during the final days of the High Republic.

“A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated,” StarWars.com describes the show.

The lead stars will be Amanda Stenberg and Lee Jung-Jae. It also stars Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-SMith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Lucasfilm, the production company of the series, also released the first behind-the-scenes image of the series, featuring Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-Jae, and Leslye Headland.

The Acolyte

‘The Acolyte’ began production in the United Kingdom in November 2022. It will have eight episodes and is expected to have its run on Disney+ in 2024.
