‘Mary & George’, a new historical TV miniseries is going to hit our screens soon, and this is going to be an interesting take on one of the juiciest gay scandals of the royal court!
British broadcaster Sky has partnered with AMC Networks to bring a historical miniseries based on Benjamin Woolley’s 2017 non-fiction book “The King’s Assassin” which itself is based on a real gay scandal that hit the 17th-century British royal court.
It will star Julianne Moore as Mary Villiers, Countess of Buckingham, who did everything she can to climb the ranks of nobility and monarchy, using marriage, bribery, and collusion for her goals. Alongside her is her gay son, George, considered her greatest “weapon.” Interestingly, George will be played by Nicholas Galitzine, the same actor who will play Prince Henry in the modern royal gay love story ‘Red, White, & Royal Blue’.
