Brazilian queer pop singer and songwriter Anitta has shut down trolls questioning her bisexuality.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan UK, the ‘Girl From Rio’ singer revealed her frustrations while also slamming her critics who continue to have negative assumptions about her and her sexuality.
“People want to dictate how you need to behave as a bisexual,” she said. “I’ve never dated a woman long-term. I had a thing with a person my friends just know, but it wasn’t serious… I’m the same with men!”
“People like to say, ‘Oh, she says she’s bisexual, but she’s never had a girlfriend.’ Does that make me a ‘fake bisexual?’ No!”
Anitta came out as bisexual in the 2018 Netflix docuseries ‘Go Anitta’. She first hit the scene in 2013, becoming the first Brazilian and Latin American artist to hit #1 on Spotify’s global chart, and the first Brazilian to win an MTV VMA and American Music Award.
