‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ has set another historic win!
29-year-old drag queen Pandora Nox was crowned by head judges Barbie Breakout and Gianni Jovanovic as the German spin-off’s first drag race superstar in what is a historic win after being the first assigned female at birth (AFAB) queen to win in the history of ‘Drag Race.’
Despite having other cis women compete for various ‘Drag Race’ crowns around the world, like ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race UK’ and ‘Canada’s Drag Race: Canada vs. the World’ drag queen Victoria Scone and ‘Drag Race España’ star Clover Bish, this is the first time since the show debuted in the United States in 2009 that an AFAB contestant has won any of the 14-year-old series’ competitive seasons.
“It’s really, extremely overwhelming because I’m not just the first winner of Drag Race Germany, but also the first cis woman,” she said in her victory speech. “To everybody out there, I think this is the best example that, even if something seems impossible, you can still dream, and dreams sometimes do come true. So, go for it. Thank you,” she later added during her confessional.
