We get a first look into the cast of the bromance drama as their characters with the newly released posters.

The bromance drama ‘Sadistic Love,’ consisting of 24 episodes, is an adaptation of Feng Fei’s novel ‘Zhang Zhong Que’ (掌中雀), also known as ‘The Bird in the Palm.’ Set in 1920, the story revolves around an opera actor and a warlord. Following the completion of filming on March 8, 2024, the official Weibo account uploaded character posters for the three main characters.

Dai Gaozheng portrays the warlord He Lian Zheng, driven by a quest for revenge, while Guan Ye portrays the opera singer who harbors resentment towards He Lian Zheng. Hu Yi Yao portrays He An Ran, He Lian Zheng’s sister whom he keeps as a hostage in his quest to avenge his mother. With the release of the posters, many fans are looking forward to the release of the series that is set to be this year.

The drama depicts Zheng Helian, an 18-year-old who followed his mother to remarry into the He family, where He Anran becomes his sister and marks his redemption. However, he witnessed his stepfather imprisoning his mother to death. Since then, Helian has harbored hatred towards the He family, burying his love for He Anran deep in his heart. Five years later, Helian Zheng returned forcefully as a military governor. He arrested his stepfather, He Molin, and kept He Anran by his side as a hostage. His sole purpose in doing all this was to avenge his mother. He wanted his family and “sister” to pay the ultimate price.

Meanwhile, Mo Yutang is a handsome actor in the Jianghu, yet he is the master of the black market gang. Despite a dark childhood, he once viewed Helian Zheng as his salvation, describing him as a brother willing to face life and death together. However, his betrayal left him with a crippled leg, fueling his hatred for Helian. After many years, the two finally reunite, but Helian’s feelings towards him remain unchanged.
