‘Last Call’, A Docuseries About a Serial Killer of Gays in New York to Arrive in July

A documentary series about a killer on the loose that terrorized the gay community of New York in the 1990s is in the works.

Titled ‘Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York’, this HBO Original will be a four-part documentary series that “dives into the deep-rooted biases of the criminal justice systems” while also describing “how the LGBTQ+ community fought to solve the murders and demand fair treatment of queer crime victims.”

It is based on the 2021 award-winning book by Elon Green titled “Last Call: A True Story of Love, Lust, and Murder in Queer New York.”

‘Last Call’ is directed by Anthony Caronna and executive produced by Charlize Theron, Howard Gertler, and other notables.

The first episode will focus on two closeted men murdered after their visit to a piano bar. The response to the killings was so muted that local activists began demanding action. The nonprofit organization Anti-Violence Project, which is still actively providing help and assistance to queer victims of violence, led the push for proper police response.

‘Last Call: When a Serial Killer Stalked Queer New York’ will debut on July 9.
