Lady Gaga Dedicates Song ‘Born This Way’ To Trans Rights

Lady Gaga’s unwavering support for the LGBTQ+ community shows again as she pays tribute to trans rights in America with her rendition of her own song and queer anthem ‘Born This Way’.

On Thursday, August 31, at the opening of her concert residency Lady Gaga Enigma + Jazz & Piano Concert, the multi-awarded pop icon dedicated a piano rendition of her song ‘Born This Way’. Before singing, she said, “I’ve got something to say about trans rights in this country.”

She then continued with the powerful lyrics, “There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are, ‘cause He made you perfect babe. I’m beautiful in my own way. God makes no mistakes.”

She also stressed the importance of speaking up, telling the crowd, “You got something to say, you gotta speak up, right?”

‘Born This Way’ was first released in 2010 — 13 years ago — and served as the lead single for Lady Gaga’s second studio album of the same name. Its lyrics have resonated so well with a lot of people. The Washington Post even dubbed it as a “hymn for LGBT Christians.”

The singer-songwriter has always stood by the side of the LGBTQ+ community, and her dedication to her song is not the first expression of support for LGBTQ+ rights. Last year, she even called out the Republican Party to not “mess with gay marriage” during her performance of “Born This Way” at the Washington show for her Chromatica Ball.

Lady Gaga’s concert residency began in 2018, previously held at the Park Theatre in Las Vegas. This year, however, it takes place at the Park Theatre at Park MGM.
