Diverging from the original plot in the novel, the story is set in the futuristic Xinyuan Civilization Year 253, a society plagued by increasing crime, and the concept of “zero-degree empathy” have become a topic of interest. A deliveryman’s murder unravels a criminal syndicate, revealing the perpetrator to possess “zero-degree empathy.” Police officer Luo Wei Zhao, assigned to the case, discovers that the situation is far more complex than it appears. As further incidents occur, Pei Su finds himself entangled in the midst of it all. Despite some changes, the series stays faithful to its source material.
One of the staff members expressed their thoughts about the series and the removal in a long post, highlighting how everyone worked diligently and put in their best efforts.
Right now I’m still in a trance, it feels like we were still filming yesterday, the happiness we felt when it aired were still so fresh, yet we need to say goodbye, so cruel. Don’t know if there’ll be a day that we meet again, it’ll be good if we can see the light again.
