Jake Borelli Reported To Leave ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ After 7 Seasons

Gay actor Jake Borelli is reportedly leaving the hit American medical drama television series ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ after seven long seasons.

According to an article by Deadline on Monday, May 13, Borelli, 33, will be making his exit after season 20. As per the report, the actor is set to appear once again as Dr. Levi Schmitt, his character, in several episodes to wrap up his storyline.

Borelli’s exit was attributed by Deadline to the pay cuts that actors got due to budget restrictions that the show received after its renewal but representatives from ABC declined to comment and confirm the speculations.

Borelli joined the ABC medical drama in season 14 as a recurring role but was promoted to a mainstay after two seasons and immediately became a fan favorite for being a part of a major LGBTQ storyline.

Borelli had a love line with Alex Landi who plays Dr. Nico Kim in the show, the first openly gay male in the series in season 15. After the episode of Levi and Nico kissing aired on national television, Borelli came out as gay.

Landi has since left the show in season 20 but came back for a cameo when Levi ran into his ex-boyfriend who was revealed to be in a new relationship with a new kid on the way via surrogate. This prompted Levi to be braver in pursuing his dreams in life.

Both ABC and Borelli have neither confirmed nor denied the reports as of this writing.
