The highly-anticipated ‘Bridgerton’ prequel spin-off series ‘Queen Charlotte’ has started streaming, and it has just become a lot gayer!
Freddie Dennis and Sam Clemmett play the roles of two queer men who have a thing for each other. Freddie Dennis plays Reynolds, King George III’s secretary, while Sam Clemmett plays the young Brimsley, Queen Charlotte’s secretary. Although their love and attraction are forbidden, they still sneak away and get it on wherever they can.
Of course, the focus of the series is Queen Charlotte and King George III, but with the addition of confirmed gay characters (as opposed to fan-surmised queer-coded characters like Benedict Bridgerton), it is a welcomed response, especially when queer fans have been clamoring for representation.
In an interview with Out, the actors talked about their experience filming steamy scenes on the set. “They created such a safe space,” Dennis said. “Obviously, with all intimate scenes, it requires vulnerability. The conversations we had surrounding the scenes and the fact that they were there on set talking us through and choreographing us just made it actually sort of an amazing, amazing experience.”
