‘Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe’, the movie adaptation of the 2012 queer coming-of-age novel, premiered late last year, but is there a chance that the sequel of the book gets a film version, too?
Not to get everyone’s hopes up, but it’s something the director is considering!
Aitch Alberto, director and screenwriter of the film, said in an interview with Variety last year that a second movie for the sequel to ‘Aristotle and Dante’ is “something [she is] thinking about.”
The sequel, titled ‘Aristotle and Dante Dive into the Waters of the World’, was released in October 2021.
Understandably, it is a little too soon for Alberto to give a categorical answer, considering that ‘Aristotle and Dante’ just made its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) last September 2022, but it is something fans of the critically-acclaimed book might want to keep tabs on.
This 2023, ‘Aristotle and Dante’ was included as a selection for the 2023 Palm Springs International Film Festival with screenings last January 8, 9, and 15. As of writing time, the film is seeking distribution.
