Tia Kofi’s ‘Drag Race UK vs the World’ sisters are speaking up to defend the queen against racist tirades following her win.
Tia was crowned the winner of the UK franchise over the weekend after beating out fellow competitor and Aussie queen Hannah Conda in a final lip sync for the crown. The two initially beat out fan favorites from France, La Grande Dame, and the Philippines’ Marina Summers in a series of lip sync eliminations.
This was supposed to be a celebratory moment but the joyous mood quickly turned dark and sour when fans started sending threatening and downright racist posts directed at Tia.
The messages got extremely nasty that Tia ended up replying to one post on X that was presumably disgusting that the account was suspended for it.
“Let’s not. For real though, let’s absolutely not do this. At all. Ever again. Drag is meant to fun, enjoyable and entertaining. Do not behave like this,” she wrote.
Her ‘UK vs the World’ sisters are not taking the fans’ behavior either with fan favorite Marina calling on her fans to support Tia.
She said, “@TiaKofi is an amazing person with the kindest heart who doesn’t deserve any form of hate. And that goes to ALL of my UKVTW 2 Sisters.”
Hello loves! It’s been a wild 24 or so hours since the Finale of @dragraceukbbc I am so proud of each of my sisters for putting out an amazing season for everyone to enjoy. And I would appreciate if everyone show the same amount of love and respect I have for these amazing queens… pic.twitter.com/LNi6Bjnu7I
