Bella Ramsey “Excited” Over ‘The Last Of Us’ Season 2’s Lesbian Romance

The Last Of Us

Nonbinary actor Bella Ramsey expressed their excitement over the lesbian romance for the upcoming second season of the zombie series ‘The Last Of Us.’

In an interview with PinkNews, the BAFTA breakthrough star said that they are “really excited” about the opportunity to bring the sapphic relationship to life.

Ramsey said that they thought that it was “really cool” when they first heard about the lesbian kiss in the video game which was the first ever in its genre.

“[I was] like The Last of Us… I recognize that, and I can’t wait to do that and explore that story. It’s gonna be a lot of fun,” the ‘Game of Thrones’ actor said.

Season two will have Ramsey’s character Ellie forming a lesbian romance with the new character Dina.

While we are all excited about this development, the first season of the zombie series was not lacking in queer representation either as it had both Frank and Bill’s tragic love story in the third episode while the entire episode seven was dedicated to the flashback of the friendship of Ellie (played by Ramsey) and Riley (played by Storm Reid) with them sharing a kiss before an infected attacked them.

On the lesbian relationship between their character and Riley, Ramsey remarked that it was “awesome” and that they researched the game. Riley and Ellie’s relationship is not available in the main story and is only accessible through the game’s downloadable expansion pack.

However, Ramsey expressed their satisfaction with the plotline being included in the show, as well as Bill and Frank’s love story albeit it was not just about “making a queer episode.”

“It was relevant and really fed into Ellie’s story and how she is now. It helped to piece together people’s back story. It felt justified and very beautiful,” the actor said.
