Newly engaged couple Ben Platt and Noah Galvin slammed the new Supreme Court ruling that says a Colorado web designer can refuse to make a wedding website for LGBTQ+ couples.
On the recent Just For Variety Podcast with Marc Malkin, musical actors Platt and Galvin said that anti-LGBTQ rulings are just a “distraction from things that are important” like global warming.
“I also think it’s the people who are losing clout, it’s like the last rageful fiery, ‘This is not how it should be!’ before they go away forever,” Platt said in the podcast.
Platt continued to say that that kind of mindset is his only hope because otherwise, it is a sign that society is regressing and harming people for no reason.
Galvin then cited one of the young actors in his and Platt’s upcoming comedy film “Theater Camp” as an illustration of how the younger generation of queer people gives him hope. He said that he was beyond impressed when he saw the 16-year-old actor Luke Islam attend the Sundance premiere of the film in full makeup with “the most fabulous outfit.”
Galvin continued to say he would have never had the confidence to go out as authentically as Islam did during the premiere.
“It just filled me with joy and made me so, so proud of Luke and also of this next generation of kids who don’t really give a f*ck– and that is amazing,” he said.
