9-1-1′ Star Kenneth Choi Gushes Over Buck and Tommy’s Loveline

‘9-1-1’ star Kenneth Choi gushed over everyone’s current favorite couple from the series!

Choi recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly and talked about Buck’s (played by Oliver Stark) relationship with Tommy (played by Lou Ferrigno Jr.).

During the series’ 100th episode, fans saw the fan-favorite character Buck going on a date and sharing a kiss with Tommy. Their relationship has deepened over the past couple of episodes and the 52-year-old Korean-American actor credited show creator Tim Minear for the “brilliance” of Buck and Tommy’s loveline.

“Even introducing the storyline of Buck and Tommy, he said, ‘I don’t want it to be this very special episode of 9-1-1. I’m going to make this a f—ing romantic comedy, man. You won’t see it coming. It’ll come out of left field,’” he said.

Choi, who plays Howard Han in the series, said that he thinks that is the same thing he did with the revelation of Buck’s sexuality where there was no big discussion or talk about it.

He added, “This guy has found love fina…. Well, I think love finally. And they come in and we see their faces [covered in the same soot] and at first it is shock because you’re like, ‘Oh?’ but then after it’s, ‘Oh, oh, okay.’ It just kind of makes sense, right? And I love the fact that he did it in such a subtle, subtle way.”

The actor said that such is the beauty of Tim Minear’s craft; he knows how to tell a story and does not come at the viewers in such a strong way, but in a manner where you do not expect it.
