Buckle up, because the gays are on fire!
Queer fans of the Ryan Murphy show ‘9-1-1’ are rejoicing because our favorite firefighter has been confirmed to be canonically queer.
This week’s 100th episode (the fourth in the season), aptly titled “Buck, Bothered and Bewildered,” saw the seemingly straight Evan “Buck” Buckley (played by Oliver Stark) going on a date and sharing a kiss with another male character.
Queer fans have been rooting for Buck to get together with his buddy Edmundo “Eddie” Diaz (played by Ryan Guzman), but to fans’ (slight) dismay, Buck, instead, forms a romantic connection with another guy, Tommy Kinard (played by Louis Ferrigno Jr.).
In the past, Buck has struggled with heterosexual relationships, having dated women he had saved on his missions, which seemed to always end up tragically. In season 6, Buck briefly dated Natalia (played by Annelise Cepero). However, the plotline was quickly dropped due to what showrunner and co-creator Tim Minear said were creative and practical reasons, and he was going to “explore other avenues” for Buck.
