Thai BL actor and singer Bright Vachirawit Chivaaree has released an official statement following his controversial post.
On July 26, Friday, Bright posted an apology on his Instagram stories after earning flak for his now-deleted problematic photos that show the actor happily posing in front of Merkava or Israel Defense Forces (IDF) battle tanks.
These photos raised a few eyebrows about the actor’s intentions in light of the ongoing genocide against Palestinians by Israel which he clarified in his official statement.
“Hello, everyone.
I want to start by sincerely apologizing for any delays in my response.
Addressing the recent issue concerning my photographs I posted on Instagram on July 23, 2024.
During my recent visit to Las Vegas between 19-23 July 2024, I’ve rushed through many leisure activities in between work– with the little time I had and it’s been a while since my last break.
Within many places I visited, one of them is “Battlefield Vegas” (American Shooting Range and Outdoor Military Museum). Like all other activities, my intention was purely to tour the city exploring and experiencing new things to better my work, and take photos as memories to share.
I’d like to assure everyone that there was absolutely no hidden agenda, despite what the ongoing debate on social media may suggest.
I now realize that these photos have caused misunderstandings and misinterpretations of my true intentions.
I deeply apologize for my incomprehensions to such a sensitive subject. And I fully recognize that it has caused psychological harm to society, in relations to issues of war.
Once again, I apologize and want to make it clear that I do not support any form of violence and promise to be more emphatizing toward all matters within my ability.”
Israel has been committing genocide in Palestine for decades but has seen recent emergent support worldwide. The UN has also established that it has seen “reasonable grounds” that genocide is being committed in Palestine, which is just pointing out obvious facts.
