BL Review: ‘Memory in the Letter’: A Hidden Gem that Captures Intricate Storytelling

‘Memory in the Letter’ beautifully captures Aksorn’s fateful encounter with Songjam in the mirror and his subsequent journey to unravel the truth behind it, especially now that their story has been published online for all to see.

As the plot unfolds, another strange phenomenon occurs, leading Songjam to travel back to the 1990s, where he patiently awaits the person he met in the mirror for decades. Initially skeptical of the storyline, I found myself deeply immersed in the intricacies of the screenplay across the six episodes, which felt too short! Kudos to the production team for crafting such an engaging narrative that kept me hooked from start to finish.

While the screenplay is undeniably unique and features an unexpected twist, some fans may find fault with the themes of transmigration and an overt age gap, which are essential to the plot’s development. However, these elements serve to deepen the complexity of the storyline and add layers of intrigue.

The production team skillfully intertwines mystery and time travel, offering a refreshing and dynamic perspective. Furthermore, the original soundtracks complement the screenplay seamlessly, enhancing the emotional depth of each scene and drawing viewers further into the narrative. And let’s not forget the stellar performances delivered by the cast, which consistently exceed expectations and bring the characters to life in a truly captivating manner.

‘Memory in the Letter’ is an adaptation of Hungrybird’s novel of the same name, featuring up-and-coming rookie actors Pitchayutt Chatchawansombut (Beck) and Napavit Tewaphankul (Parky) as Aksorn and Songjam, alongside Atirut Kittipattana (Can), a well-known actor, singer, and news anchor.

OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS: Aksorn a 20-year-old student, recently moved into a new dormitory after a disagreement with his father led to his being kicked out of his house. There, he encountered a mysterious mirror left behind by the previous tenant. That very night, after a century-long meteor shower, the mirror ceased to reflect Aksorn’s face. On the other side of the mirror was a bedroom of Sonogram, a 17-year-old boy from another parallel world.

‘Memory in the Letter’ is now available to stream worldwide on WeTV, but VIP membership may be required in some regions.
