6 Upcoming Thai BL Office Romance to Anticipate

With the rise of workplace romance BL dramas last year, Thailand will offer more this year with its own set of office romances.

It’s no secret that the genre is gaining popularity among viewers and what’s more, entertainment and production companies were quick to add the genre to their lineups—much to the delight of fans. Here is a list of the upcoming office romance BL you can start looking forward to this year:

1. Bed Friend Series

SYNOPSIS: “Maybe it’s not that bad. We both get the mutual benefits anyway.” When one of them takes it lightly and the other takes it seriously to be ‘friends with benefits,’ Uea, a graphic designer who is cold-hearted, always wears a poker face, and ‘King,’ a programmer who has never wanted to be in a serious relationship with anyone, they made a deal to be ‘friends with benefits’ in secret.

‘Bed Friend’ will premiere on February 18, every Saturday at 10:40 PM GMT+7 (Thailand Standard Time). It will be available for international fans at 11:45 PM GMT+7 on Mandee Channel on Youtube.

2. The Middleman’s Love

SYNOPSIS: Jade is always the one in the middle. He is the middle child and has average grades in school. People around him, either his siblings or his friends are so good-looking that he has always been overlooked or becomes just a middleman for those who want to know his siblings and friends personally. He has been in this situation for years and has to accept it unwillingly. He then built a high wall in his heart. He does not expect a romantic relationship since he has learned that whoever comes to him just wants to get close to the people around him. Even working as a graphic designer in his company, he also feels mediocre in it. One day, his office welcomes an intern called Mai, an attractive university student who comes to break the wall in Jade’s heart!

There is currently no date for when the series will air but it will most likely be after ‘Bed Friend Series’ is completed, given that the two dramas share the same universe.

3. Step By Step

SYNOPSIS: Jeng, a new Marketing division manager, was the kind of boss that his team didn’t like. Pat, a new grad from the USA, joined the company but suffered from the working culture and tasks that weren’t his. Jeng saw talent in Pat so he wanted to push Pat further in his career but he, with good intentions, overrode Pat’s work so many times. Pat decided to quit his job. During that time the company sent questionnaires to each team and Pat wrote everything on his mind about his boss. Jeng started to change himself and Pat started to adjust himself to work with his boss as well. And Jeng and Pat gradually learn about each other and develop their relationship.

The series is ongoing filming as per the updates on their official Twitter account but this is one of the dramas DeeHupHouse has planned to air this year.

4. Wish Me Luck

SYNOPSIS: A story of Rak, a part-time employee in a supermarket who likes to observe customers’ behavior during checkout. This is where he meets Shine, a young creative advertiser director who sees potential in Rak. Shine, then, approaches him to join the event as well…What will happen to their relationship as co-workers in the creative industry? When they find out that one of the employees in their company is a traitor, can they track down the mole or not? Will the barriers to their work and love be comforting or oppressive?

The actors are currently going through workshops and filming for the series has not started yet so there is a possibility that we will not be seeing ‘Wish Me Luck’ air until the second half of this year.

5. A Boss and A Babe

SYNOPSIS: Chay (Book Kasidet) is a gamer who wants to be popular in the esports industry. However, his plans are dramatically altered when he was hired as an intern in a company where, His boss Gun (Force Jiratchapong), consistently ordered him to do some pretty weird errands. Chay gets confused about his boss’ true intentions. What do Gun’s actions mean? And can Chay escape from his weird boss to go back to his gaming life and continue his dreams as a gamer?

Filming for the series is currently ongoing as seen from the updates they have been posting on their official Twitter account. We’re hopeful that we will be able to watch ‘A Boss and A Babe’ this year.

6. Cherry Magic Thailand

SYNOPSIS: Never had the experience of sex in his life, Kiyoshi Adachi (Achi) reaches his 30th birthday and magically becomes a “wizard”: he develops an ability to hear the thoughts of other people by touching them. One day, he discovers that his popular co-worker, Yuichi Kurosawa (Karan), is in love with him. While dealing with the awkwardness of being able to hear Kurosawa (Karan)’s rather forthright feelings towards him, Adachi (Achi) comes to terms with how much Kurosawa (Karan) values him and starts to develop reciprocal feelings of his own.

There are currently no updates on the series remake from their official Twitter account as of this writing, so it is hard to say if we will be seeing TayNew’s comeback this year or the next. But Polcas definitely should look out and anticipate the remake!
