“Papa and Daddy”, a series that tackles the importance of open-mindedness and acceptance in the progressive community we have today.

LGBT parenting isn’t a topic that’s easily come across in BL dramas. So “Papa and Daddy” is an excellent series that shows us the life of a married couple and their son and what are the struggles they face every day. The scenes could be simple but it is shown through the perspective of gay parents is a new take—with this theme not being completely common yet. The series is incredibly light-hearted and tense the next but it shows the authenticity of the show. With “Papa and Daddy” spreading more awareness regarding this important topic, we hope there will be more series that can follow their example. Take a glimpse into the life of Damian (Melvin Sia) and Jerry (Mike Lin) in this heartwarming series.

SYNOPSIS: Damian, 38, is an overseas Taiwanese, who divorced his wife and returned to Taiwan to open his restaurant, Verso. While at Verso, he meets Jerry. Their relationship intensifies and Damian yearns to start a family, with Jerry reluctant to take on parental duties at such an early age. Four years later and through surrogacy, they are now gay parents to a four-year-old boy. Jerry still has not come out to his parents and has now become a full-time dad even though his parents still pressure him to marry a woman. Damian is busier than ever at Verso and their son Kai is just getting ready for preschool.

Their love continues in Papa and Daddy S2. For this season there was a change in the actor of Jerry (previously Mike Lin now Chiu Mu Han) due to the conflict of schedules with the previous actor, so expect to see a new face but the love of the two characters still remains.

SYNOPSIS: Following the events at the end of season one, the family of Jerry, Damian, and their four-year-old son, Kai, now have an additional, uninvited guest–Jimmy, Damian’s son from his previous marriage in California, whose unexpected arrival to Taiwan brings much turbulence to the otherwise peaceful family.
