Following ‘Lonely Girl’, SUKFILM released their second Korean sapphic web drama ‘Mayfly Angel’.
The first episode begins with Haesu drinking alone and swearing about her boyfriend. Jaehee, her good friend, arrives to comfort her, but she only watches Haesu drink alone. Jaehee wonders what her friend has been up to. Haesu reveals that her boyfriend, Minjae, cheated on her, and she even tried to persuade him not to leave her. However, Minjae is determined to break up with her. Knowing this, they often find themselves engaging in arguments with each other. As Haesu leaves, she sustains a sprained ankle. Jaehee takes her hand and escorts her home, where she applies first aid.
While Haesu lies down on her bed, Jaehee sits next to her, encouraging her not to shed tears in front of her. Then, Jaehee attempts to kiss her friend. Haesu confronts her to see if Jaehee likes her, leading to their first kiss. This allows Haesu to express what she felt to Jaehee.
The first episode sets the stage for a compelling drama filled with emotional turmoil and unexpected twists and turns. The characters’ depth is quickly established, especially Haesu’s vulnerability and Jaehee’s supportive yet complex nature. The development from friendship to potential romance between Haesu and Jaehee adds an intriguing layer to the story. The episode effectively hooks the audience, promising a blend of heartfelt moments and dramatic tension.
