Actor Kang Jun Kyu (also known as Jun Q.), one of the male leads of Korean BL ‘Individual Circumstances’, talks about what differs from working in a BL genre.
In his interview for Singles Magazine, Kang Jun Kyu. talked about his character, author Seong Woo Jae, whom he got to play for the BL ‘Individual Circumstances’. In relation to this, he said, “A lot of people might think that acting in a BL genre is a ‘courageous’ thing to do, but as an actor, there’s really no reason to refuse [acting in this genre]. Society might view [BL] as a different thing because it’s a love between two men, but I think there is really no difference between the love between two men and the love between a man and woman.”
Although Kang Jun Kyu has been in the entertainment business for more than a decade now, ‘Individual Circumstances’ is his first BL drama. A lot of people might not know but he used to be a member of the boy group ‘My Name’ which debuted back in 2011. Although he fell in love with singing first, Kang Jun Kyu still found himself leaning towards acting, which is why he still views himself as a rookie actor. He mentions how grateful he is to his fans and that there is a lot more to look forward to his future works.
