Yuri Manga ‘She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat’ Drama Adaptation to Get Second Season

NHK announced that the live-action adaptation of Sakaomi Yuzaki’s slice-of-life yuri manga ‘She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat’ (‘Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna’) is getting a second season!

‘She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat’ follows the story of female neighbors Nomoto and Kasuga. Nomoto loves to cook as a stress reliever, while Kasuga enjoys eating. They bond over their shared interest in food and eventually develop closer, more intimate feelings for each other.

Actresses Manami Higa and Emi Nishino are expected to reprise their roles as Nomoto and Kasuga respectively. The cast will have additional members, however, they are yet to be announced, including those who will play the manga characters Yako and Nagumo.

‘She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat’ becomes the first program in NHK’s “YoruDora” drama block to get a sequel. Its first season ran from November to December 2022. It was directed by Yui Matsusaki and Niroyuki Nakata, with Yuri Yamada writing the script and Gorou Itou on its music. The four will also return for the second season.

Manga creator Yuzaki said that they are honored to have their work turned into a drama and to have the show renewed for another season. “It’s an honor just to have my work made into a drama. But I am extremely humbled to have it be the first in the block to have a sequel produced,” the said. “I want to sit in front of the TV not just as the original author, but also as a fan and viewer.”

The ‘She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat’ manga is serialized digitally by ASCII Media Works through its COMIC It label. Meanwhile, the new series will run for 20 episodes and is expected to premiere in early 2024.
