LOOK: EBiDAN Artists Who Stars in Japanese BL Drama

• JYUTARO YAMANAKA

Jyutaro Yamanaka is a former member of BATTLE BOYS and is now a member of the vocal dance unit M!LK. He stars in MBS’ Tunku drama ‘Candy Color Paradox’ as Motoharu Kaburagi, a photographer in Dash!, and while he has a cool composure and a kind side that allows him to show consideration for others.

‘Candy Color Paradox’ follows Satoshi Onoe, a weekly magazine reporter who prides himself on his writing styles and ethics. Onoe is teamed with Motoharu Kaburagi, an obnoxious photographer after a new probe shuffles the stakeout teams. Onoe, who secretly considers Kaburagi his biggest competition, hates him and his haphazard and unscrupulous reporting tactics, clashing often. As he spends more time with Kaburagi, Onoe’s irritation turns to a sweeter view of his arch-nemesis.

• NAOYA KUSAKAWA

Naoya Kusakawa is a member of the dance vocal group ONE N’ ONLY and the younger brother of Takuya Kusakawa of Bullet Train. He stars in ‘His: I Didn’t Think I Would Fall in Love’ as Shun Igawa, which was previously featured in GagaOOLala and is also available to stream on Rakuten Viki.

The drama depicts Nagisa, a 17-year-old who is in his second year of high school when he meets Shun, a boy the same age as him. Over the spring break, his love life begins to change in unexpected ways.

• HARU KASHIWAGI

Haru Kashiwagi is the third member of Bullet Train (so far) to star in BL and is taking the lead role in the upcoming TBS drama ‘I Cannot Reach You’ as Kakeru, a bright and ordinary young boy.

‘I Cannot Reach You’ follows longtime friends and total opposites Yamato and Kakeru, who always stick together. When the reserved Yamato admits his feelings, can everything change?

As of this writing, no further information has been regarding its international release aside from its advanced screening on Netflix Japan starting on September 19.

• TAKATO OKURA

Takato Okura is the latest EBiDAN artist from Genin wa Jibun ni Aru to star in ‘If It’s With You, Maybe I’d Fall in Love,‘ based on Kubota Maru’s manga series of the same name. He will be playing the role of Amane Kaido, a high school student who had a past trauma and gave up on the idea of love.

The drama depicts a story of pure and painful love between high school students set in Enoshima, Japan. Thanks to past trauma, Amane, a high school student, has given up on the idea of seriously loving anyone. On the first day of his new life in Enoshima, he met Ryuuji, a boy his age. Ryuuji happened to be Amane’s type, and he’d also like to hang out with him more. But what started with light feelings is now beginning to change into something unexpected.
