LIST: MBS’ Japanese BL Dramas Under Tunku Program Block

In preparation for the newest line-up in MBS’ Tunku drama shower, BLtai listed below all Japanese BL shows you shouldn’t miss under this timeslot!

Tunku is a boy’s love programming block between local TV station MBS and KADOKAWA that was set to run for a year and got renewed on March 23rd — which will resume in June — and airs every Friday from 1:29 AM to 1:59 AM JST.

NOTE: This list will continuously be updated. All titles are streaming worldwide on GagaOOLala, except in South Korea and Japan.

 

1. Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But To Kiss (2022)

CAST: Ryosuke Soda, Yusuke Sato

Fukuhara Kouta was born unlucky. No matter where he goes or what he does, bad luck is sure to follow. On the first day of his new college, he nearly gets hit by a car, only to be saved by fellow student Shinomiya Naoya. As it turns out, Shinomiya was born lucky—and on top of that, he’s also incredibly handsome and charismatic. When an unlucky man encounters his lucky star, what kind of sparks will fly? Based off the Japanese manga of the same name comes the live series adaptation of Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice but to Kiss!

2. Senpai, This Can’t Be Love (2022)

CAST: Naito Shuichiro,Seto Toshiki

Yanase has worked as a 3D CG designer all across the world. Now back in Japan, Yanase is training a newbie by the name of Kaneda Yuki. There’s only one issue: Kaneda is super unfriendly towards Yanase, leaving Yanase frustrated and disappointed. With a new project where they will have to work side by side, how can these two overcome their different personalities?

3. Takara-kun And Amagi-kun (2022)

CAST: Arata Sato, Nao Oriyama, Kosuke Suzuki

Takara belongs to the most prominent group in his class and is highly popular with the others, while Amagi is quieter but is still bright, energetic, and generally well-liked. Although they are classmates, the boys have no direct interaction with each other due to the differences in their peer groups, but in fact, both have surreptitiously become interested in the other. Realizing that their attraction may be love, Takara and Amagi decide to secretly date together without telling anyone else. However, Amagi, who is confused by Takara’s mysterious lack of words and actions, is pushed to make an important decision.

4. Eternal Yesterday (2022)

The personalities of Koichi, who is energetic, cheerful, and popular among his classmates, and Mitsuru, who is terrified by the very thought of socializing, are utterly different; yet they are attracted to each other for this very reason. One tragic morning, Koichi finds himself in the midst of an unfortunate accident and while he manages to survive the incident, his classmates, however, gradually begin to forget about him and his existence…

5. Candy Color Paradox (2022)

As a reporter at a weekly magazine, Satoshi Onoe takes pride in his ability to write well and report ethically. But when the stakeout teams are shuffled around in light of a new investigation, Onoe ends up being paired up with the one and only Motoharu Kaburagi, an ill-mannered photographer who spells nothing but trouble. Onoe, who secretly regards Kaburagi as his biggest rival, absolutely despises him and his haphazard and unethical reporting methods, with the two constantly bickering. However, much to Onoe’s surprise, his annoyance soon begins to shift as he spends more time with Kaburagi, and his feelings towards his arch nemesis turn a bit sweeter…

6. Jack o’ Frost (2023)

CAST: Kyoya Honda, Kosuke Suzuki, Shoot Mori

Illustrator Ritsu and salesman Fumiya’s love story begins at a quaint coffee shop. Despite their happy union, a misunderstanding causes a rift between the two. After a heated argument, Ritsu has an accident and loses all memory of Fumiya. To restart their relationship, Fumiya conceals their past and begins anew with Ritsu, who longs to regain his memories. Together, they embark on a journey to revisit their history, revisiting the places that hold bitter and sweet memories. As they retrace their steps, Fumiya grapples with their past while Ritsu begins to rediscover his feelings for Fumiya.

7. Tokyo in April is (June 16)

The new employee Kazuma, who returned to Tokyo from America, reunites with his close friend from middle school, Ren, who is currently working as the top designer at their company. It is their first meeting since the abrupt farewell during their third year in middle school, 10 years ago. Ren was his best friend and his first love. He is as strong and good-looking as ever… And Kazuma is happy just being with him. However, Ren avoids the subject of their time in middle school rather unnaturally and acts like a friendly former classmate… But he’s behaving this way because he is gay, and above all, fears being rejected by Kazuma. Yet one night, the two of them get together again…?

No further information has been released regarding its international release as of this writing.
