LBGTQ+ BL global media hub GagaOOLala, in partnership with TV Tokyo, one of Japan’s most prominent TV networks, together announced the premiere of the highly anticipated co-production of a gay/BL (Boys’ Love) live-action drama named, “At 25:00, in Akasaka.”
The drama is based on the popular manga by Hiroko Natsuno, whose IP has surpassed 1.2 million copies. It explores the fascinating “what if” scenario of two actors, known for their roles as a BL couple, being in a romantic relationship in real life. This premise has captivated fans on social media, leading to widespread demand for its adaptation into a drama.
GagaOOLala’s founder and CEO, Jay Lin, remarked on Japan’s status as the undisputed cradle of BL culture.
It is with profound honor that we collaborate with the prestigious TV Tokyo for joint production, crafting a formidable Japan-Taiwan alliance that leverages the unique strengths of both entities. We envision ‘At 25:00, in Akasaka’ as the inaugural venture in a series of impactful collaborations.
In addition, Hiroko Natsuno, the original creator, shows her excitement and gratitude as her work, originally crafted in solitude, comes to life in a new, visually captivating adaptation. She also highlighted the unexpected suitability of her work for visual adaptation and looks forward to the portrayal of her characters by attractive actors.
It’s an honor to see my solitary creations reach everyone in a new form, enriched by the talents of a dedicated production team and cast. Witnessing “At 25:00 in Akasaka” transform from paper to a vibrant three-dimensional world is both surprising and thrilling. This collaboration, including with the readers, has been a valuable journey. I hope the reimagined piece brings joy to many.
