Pedro Pascal received a lot of love — once again — after showing his support for the LGBTQ+ community amidst continued attacks on trans rights in the US.
In his Instagram post last March 6, he shared three photos of the inclusive LGBTQ+ flag with the caption, “The answer, my friend, is blowin’ in the wind.” The line references Bob Dylan’s song “Blowin’ in the Wind” which was used as an anthem for the civil rights movement in the 1960s.
Stars and celebrities praised Pascal on his post, including trans activist Munroe Bergdorf, Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, and Gal Gadot. His ‘The Last of Us’ co-star Bella Ramsey, who identifies as gender fluid, also commented on the post, saying “Love Love Love.”
Pascal has been a vocal ally of the LGBTQ+ community, almost always posting support for Pride Month every June.
Although not much has been said, many believe the post comes at a time of the rising anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-trans legislation in many states. Pascal himself has a trans sister, Lux, whom he publicly supported. It also helped that his ongoing series, ‘The Last of Us’, has featured queer plot lines.
Pascal has been vocal in his support for the community. In an interview with Wired, Pascal was asked how he navigates his role in political spaces, especially in the context of his support for his trans-sister. He said that his “entire heart is set on the marginalized underdog. It’s not a choice. Like, how dare anyone not support the people that are deserving of support, and are deserving of protection and need more of it than you do.”
