‘Heartstopper’ Star Kit Connor To Make Broadway Debut With Romeo & Juliet

‘Heartstopper’ actor Kit Connor is making his broadway debut this coming fall as he takes the role of Romeo in a modern-day adaptation of the Shakespeare star-crossed-lovers tragedy.

Connor will star alongside Rachel Zegler who will play the role of Juliet.

The Broadway play will be directed by Sam Gold with music from Jack Antonoff. The official synopsis reads: “The youth are fucked. Left to their own devices in their parents’ world of violent ends, an impulsive pair of star-crossed lovers hurtle towards their inescapable fate. The intoxicating high of passion quickly descends into a brutal chaos that can only end one way.”

In another statement, director Gold said, “With the presidential election coming up in November, I felt like making a show this fall that celebrates youth and hope, and unleashes the anger young people feel about the world they are inheriting.”

Connor rose to fame with the critically acclaimed queer teen drama ‘Heartstopper’ where he played the role of Nick Nelson. Coincidentally, the show, which has won numerous awards since its first season in 2022 including several wins in the Children’s and Family Emmy Awards, will also return for its third season this fall, in October, where Connor will reprise his role.

Rachel Zegler is known for starring in the Steven Spielberg adaptation of ‘West Side Story’, as well as in the films ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ and ‘The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes’. She will also play the title character in the upcoming live adaptation of ‘Snow White’.

Fans who wish to see the two can sign up for early access when tickets go on sale this May.
