Filipino TV series ‘Senior High’ makes yet another beautiful and heartwarming representation of queer struggle with an emotional coming out scene in a recent episode!
In its 70th episode which aired on December 1, closeted gay character Tim (played by Zaijian Jaranilla) admits to his father, Elmo Castro, that he is attracted to another male character and his teammate, Poch (played by Miggy Jimenez).
In the scene, Elmo comes home to a crying Tim. Unaware of his son’s emotional state, he continues to talk about the recent happenings in their school. It isn’t long before he notices his son sobbing and asks what the problem is.
Tim then musters the courage and admits that he likes someone else aside from his current girlfriend Roxy (played by Xyriel Manabat), and that someone is Poch.
“I tried to stop myself,” he emotionally tells his father and explains why he has started having feelings for Poch.
Elmo holds his son by the shoulders and says, “Son, if that’s how you feel, you don’t have to apologize to me. You’re my son. And no matter what you are, my love for you will never change. You’re my child.”
Although thankful, Tim also admits that he’s confused (“I’m not sure what I am,” he says). Elmo doesn’t say anything, hugging his son instead.
