Michael Imperioli clarified his recent remarks forbidding ‘bigots and homophobes’ from watching his work following the anti-LGBT Colorado Supreme Court ruling.
On his Instagram post, the ‘White Lotus’ actor said that his initial statement was “a satirical and symbolic take” on the discriminatory rulings of the Supreme Court which further divides the US as a nation, “or far worse.”
‘The Sopranos star shared a screen grab of an article based on his earlier statement in another now-deleted post which said, “I’ve decided to forbid bigots and homophobes from watching The Sopranos, The White Lotus, Goodfellas or any movie or tv show I’ve been in,” Imperioli said in his Saturday post, adding, “Thank you Supreme Court for allowing me to discriminate and exclude those who I don’t agree with and am opposed to. USA! USA!”
A few days after that, Imperioli came back on his page to say that freedom of religion, freedom of speech, and the right to pursue happiness are all important to him. He added that he also believes in the First Amendment which declares the separation of Church and state and that “all people regardless of race, religion, color, creed, gender, or sexuality are entitled to freedom, equality, rights, and protection under the laws of our nation.”
