Queer icon Billy Porter, 53, and his husband Adam Smith, 37, have called it quits after six long years of marriage.
In a statement released to People Magazine on Wednesday, July 5, the award-winning ‘Pose’ star confirmed that they have broken up and that the decision was “friendly and came from both parties.”
“I can confirm that Billy Porter and his husband Adam Smith have made the sad decision to end their marriage after six years,” the gay actor’s rep, Simon Halls, told People.
In the statement, Halls said that the decision was made after much consideration and that they continue to love and support each other as they move on with their lives.
Halls said that Porter and Smith will not be answering any queries on the split and have asked for privacy during this time.
Porter and Smith met in 2009 and dated for about a year before separating. However, they rekindled their relationship and got back together five years later and got engaged in December 2016. They then tied the knot just two weeks later in January 2017.
