‘Aristotle and Dante’, one of the most highly anticipated queer films since its announcement in 2018, is inching closer to its public release this summer, and its first teaser is finally out!
Fully titled ‘Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe’, the movie is based on the novel of the same name by Benjamin Alire Sáenz. It tells the story of two teenage Mexican Americans in El Paso, Texas, Aristotle Mendoza and Dante Quintana, who forge friendships, explore their sexualities, and understand themselves and their families through the realities of a rather harsh world.
Aristotle is played by Max Pelayo while Dante Quintana is portrayed by Reese Gonzales. Trans filmmaker Aitch Alberto directed the film. It also stars Eva Longoria and is produced by Lin-Manuel Miranda — who narrated the audiobook version of the novel — through his company 5000 Broadway Productions.
Prior to its public release, ‘Aristotle and Dante’ screened in several film festivals, including the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival, the 2023 Palm Springs International Film Festival, and Outfest Los Angeles 2023.
