The trailer for a new queer horror movie is out where a gay teen has to save high school jocks and bullies from being murdered!

‘Departing Seniors’ stars Ignacio DIaz-Silverio (‘Primo’) who plays Javier, a queer Mexican-American teen who is smart but awkward and relentlessly bullied. He tries to make it through high school whole and in one piece.

After being tripped up by one of the bullies, he falls down the stairs, gets hospitalized, and the twist kicks in: Javier discovers he has a new but strange power. Touching people and things gives him visions of the future and the past.

That could have been enough of a twist for a queer horror movie, but wait, there’s more.

A theater-masked killer begins targeting athletes, including Javier’s bullies. Javier then realizes that with his new power, he could use it to save the bullies and heroically transform the narrative. The question, however, is if it is saving these people who have tormented him throughout his high school life.

Early reviews of the film have been generally positive, with some describing it as “surprisingly sweet-natured, not to mention light-hearted” despite the “brutal murders” and “a fun take on the jock-shock genre.”

‘Departing Seniors’ also stars IReon Roach (‘Candyman’), Yani Gellman (‘The Lizzie McGuire Movie’), and Sasha Kuznetsov (‘Perpetrator’).

‘Departing Seniors’ will first show in film festivals before going on limited theatrical runs. It will be up on digital video-on-demand platforms starting February 2.
